Surf film Proximity is kicking off its week-long cinema run today, and last night the Gold Coast was treated to a special event from Kelly Slater & co.

The film follows Slater and seven other surfers as they tackle waves across the globe, making for mind-boggling footage courtesy of filmmakers Taylor Steele & Michael Lawrence. At Pacific Fair, fans were treated to a Q&A session with the filmmakers as well as a VR experience which simulated a surf session, while Slater himself was also in attendance.
