Opening with a rousing speech from Jim Turvey (Labour Recreation Rest & Sprawlers), Newcastle’s renowned tall poppy syndrome (yes, we’ve been listening to Daniel Johns’ podcast) felt like a myth last night, with Steel City tins in hands the Newy skate scene dropped to their knees and worshipped Rowan Davis‘ skills in Scenic. Demolishing his hometown, trick after trick, the Come Sundown skater proved he’s one of the most promising and hardest working skaters in the country. Captured with a deft touch – in spite of a broken neck – by Izrayl Brinsdon, the film, which also features Riley Pavey, will be dropping on Thrasher this week!
