Party & Bullshit

Future Music Festival is over for another year, and we’ll definitely mark this one down as one of the most memorable.

Having barely recovered from Sydney’s bender, we packed our bags and headed to sunny Brisbane for Round 2. We weren’t sure if our bodies could persevere, but we survived – and here’s the evidence. Ten of our favourite moments that defined FMF Brisbane, presented by Koppaberg.

Get involved, and count down to 2016:

EVERYTHING THAT DRAKE DID

Yep, turns out that Drake’s performance in Brisbane was just as good as his shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Who would’ve guessed? From ‘0-100’ to ‘Find Your Love’, the Toronto emcee lived up to the hype in every aspect possible. In 20 years time, your children are going to ask you about the time Drake toured Australia for the first time and rode a trapeze. Then, you’ll show them this picture and get very emotional about the whole ordeal. #DRAKESTRAPEZE

SOME BRO IN A WHERE’S WALLY COSTUME DECIDED TO CLIMB A TOWER TOWARDS DRAKE’S TRAPEZE

In fact, some Brisbane punters were so infatuated with Drake’s trapeze that they decided to climb up there and have a ride themselves. This bro (10 points for the Where’s Wally costume) had a crack and unleashed his Spiderman skills on the scaffolding (minus 10 points for being silly) – no word on what happened when he got back to solid ground with 10 police waiting for him. Poor bastard. Need we remind you of this ordeal from Creamfields 2012?

THE SUNSET OVER THE FUTURE LIVE STAGE (FT. DRAKE’S TRAPEZE)

Have we talked about Drake’s trapeze enough? If you look to the left hand side of this photo, you’ll see it dangling ever so nonchalantly, in front of the lingering beauty of a Brisbane sunset and thousands of screaming fans. This is some stuff that money just can’t buy.

DIE ANTWOORD PERFORMED & DJ HI-TEK HAD FANS SINGING ‘DJ HI-TEK WILL FUCK YOU IN THE ASS’

Die Antwoord are certainly something to witness live – all three members wore orange jumpsuits onstage for their fluoro affair. Ninja stage dived shirtless, Yolandi was so damn weird but so damn sexy, and DJ Hi-Tek had the most dedicated fans chanting along to ‘DJ Hi-Tek will fuck you in the ass.’ Fun for the whole family!

THIS GUY WORE A FLAVOUR FLAV CLOCK

A clock necklace inspired by Flavor Flav and a three piece marijuana outfit? This guy has a membership pass to the hip-hop club for the rest of his life.

THE KOPPABERG CIDER BAR ON A SWELTERING DAY

When it’s 30 degrees and you feel like you’re in an outdoor sauna, there’s nothing better than a cool glass of Koppaberg to get your buzz going. This cute little hut was our hangout for much of the day, with a great view of the Supernova stage in all of its glory. Sitting here while watching Knife Party drop dubstep joints was strangely calming.

DARUDE’S SANDSTORM WAS JUST HUGE

Have you ever seen someone attend a festival with an outfit dedicated to just one song? Neither have we, until now. We loved this ‘DARUDE – SANDTSORM’ dress (Microsoft Word Art font on fleek) and when he dropped this track, all hell broke loose. Considering Peking Duk’s revival of the track in Australia (Darude’s 1999 track even charted commercially afterwards), we knew that shit was gonna hit the fan.

CARNAGE DROPPED HIS NEW RICK ROSS COLLABORATION

Seriously, how fucking good is Carnage? “I’m obnoxious and I don’t care,” he said in this interview, which we feel is very solid life advice. After collaborating with everyone from ASAP Ferg to ILoveMakkonen to Migos, the producer treated Future audiences to something special. He unleashed his upcoming collaboration with Miami’s own boss, Rick Ross – and let’s just say that it bangs extremely hard. We can’t wait for the official audio. #CHIPOTLEGANG

THAT CAREFREE, QUEENSLAND HOSPITALITY

-1

Here’s a goal for 2015: Surround yourself with more happy and beautiful people. Queensland has plenty of them, and the Future Music Festival crowd were all smiles. Even though we’re a bunch of Sydneysiders who managed to beat them in last year’s State of Origin series, they know how to make us feel welcome when we head north of the border.

EXAMPLE TAKES A SNAP FOR THE MEMORIES (AND INSTAGRAM)

In fact, the Brisbane crowd was looking so damn great during Example’s set that he had to cherish the memories with a flick of his own. This picture ended up on his Instagram page, while we also spent a day with the legend himself in Sydney.
