What the hell were you up to at 17? Were you creating a website that tracks a deadly virus? A website that has attracted over half a billion visitors, and around 30 million daily visitors? It’s ok, we weren’t either. But that’s exactly what Washington State teenager Avi Schiffmann has been up to in his spare time.
The computer wizard created the site, which automatically sources data from the Centre For Disease Control and the World Health Organisation, a few weeks back when he couldn’t find clear information about the global epidemic. As explained in the video below, he turned down eight million US dollars from a company wanting to advertise on the site (that’s like over 13 million Australian dollars!)
