Earlier this week, KFC Japan announced that they were introducing all you can eat chicken, while yesterday we celebrated National Fried Chicken Day – and it seems like the culinary stars are aligning, because a fried chicken and wine festival has just been announced for Sydney.

The man behind it all is Andrew Levins, who now has too many titles for us to keep up with. He’s one half of party-starting rap selectors Halfway Crooks, former chef at The Dip, and the madman behind Sydney’s numerous Justin Bieber parties. Now, he’s teaming up with Cake Wines for ‘Birds of Redfern’, which will be uniting several eateries for a fried chicken festival with beverages to boot.

The lineup includes Inner-West eatery Hartsyard, who will be serving up some Southern hospitality with their crispy offerings. If you’d like to head to the Oriental, Moon Park will be offering a sweet and sticky Korean twist on the bird, while The Lord Gladstone will also be bringing the chook burgers – which is definitely our pick from their very delicious menu. Cake Wines will be serving up booze including “2016 Pinot Gris, NV Adelaide Hills Sparkling and Young Winemaker Series small-batch natural Pinot Noir.” Exquisite!

It’s all going down on Sunday, July 24 at Cake Wines Cellar Door in Redfern – tickets are just $10, exclusive of food and drink. Grab entry right here and prepare for four and a half hours of deep fried goodness followed by a severe food coma. It might also be time to buy one of these tracksuits.
