2016 is a pretty uncomfortable time: Donald Trump might actually become President and Rae Sremmurd still haven’t dropped their second album. Perhaps that’s why we’ve seen so many parties and events celebrating nostalgia as of late, winding us back to the blissful time that was the 2000s. Times were simpler and The O.C reigned supreme on airwaves for four seasons, dragging us into the melodramatic lives of teens on the sunny West Coast. While the series was eventually canned due to low ratings in 2007, The O.C still left us with plenty of memories of alcoholism and Marissa shooting Trey.
Now, one event is bringing The O.C back to life in Sydney at a venue yet to be announced. They’re promising life-size cut-outs of the characters, visuals from the The O.C and a themed photobooth. Plus, let’s not forget the show’s revolutionary soundtrack – they’ll be spinning all of the show’s iconic tunes for two and a half hours. Phantom Planet, Imogen Heap, Youth Group – head along and scream ‘CALIFORNIAAAAAAA’ at a socially unacceptable volume. They’ve also gotten creative with the drinks menu, serving up themed cocktails including the ‘Marissa Mojito’ and ‘White Wasps (wines) in tribute of Kirsten’s drinking problem.’ Lord have mercy.
It’s all going down on September 23, and entry if free – stay glued to the Facebook event page for all the details. Bonus: The most 2000s outfit inspired by the show will win a bar tab, so get your Seth Cohen-inspired plaid shirt out and order 10 Marissa Mojitos. Hook it to my veins:
