In yet another instance of Adam Sandler being one of the most unpredictable actors on the planet, the Grown Ups alum has turned his sights to the stars for his latest film, linking up with Netflix for their new space epic, Spaceman.
Okay, calling it ‘epic’ might be a bit of a stretch, but it still seems like a pretty solid film, just going off the trailer that was released this morning. Starting with Sandler’s character Jakub celebrating the 189th day of his solo space expedition, the trailer showcases his growing loneliness as he reminisces on his old life with wife Lenka (played by Carey Mulligan).
Then, however, his luck changes, with an eerie space creature finding its way onto his ship. Voiced by Paul Dano, the alien (which looks like a mix between an octopus and the spider from Harry Potter), explains that he was intrigued by Sandler’s loneliness and subsequently commits to helping him search his mind and understand where his marriage went wrong.
What follows is a totally bonkers trip into Sandlers psyche as the traverses mental terrain in search of hope for his former love. Add the fact that Dano is basically giving an ASMR performance for his unnamed alien marriage counsellor, and the movie is just a total trip-and-a-half. It’s definitely one of Netflix’s more promising titles slated for 2024. Spaceman lands on the streamer on March 1st. Check out the trailer below.
