2022 will no doubt be a milestone year for AMC, in that three of its biggest series will be coming to an end. From The Walking Dead to Better Call Saul and Killing Eve, it’s clear the year is gonna be something of a make or break for the TV network. Thus, they’re planning ahead, coming up with some fall-backs should the fans of those shows feel a little lost without them. Now, the TV network will be releasing digital spin offs of Better Call Saul and Fear The Walking Dead, respectively titled Slippin’ Jimmy and Dead in the Water, both of which will air on “YouTube, IGTV, SVOD, AVOD and FAST channels.”
Slippin’ Jimmy will serve as an animated prequel to Better Call Saul, set many years before the events of the series in the home of young Jimmy and Chuck McGill in Cicero, Illinois. Interestingly, the show is being created in the “retro style of Fat Albert,” with each episode paying tribute to “everything from spaghetti Westerns to Buster Keaton to After Hours.”
However, Dead in the Water is the main thing we’re interested in. Tied into season six of Fear the Walking Dead, the new series will tell the story of “a submarine crew fighting for survival, cut off from the surface world just as the apocalypse hits, becoming a nuclear-fueled walker-filled death trap with no way out.” If you’re familiar with Fear The Walking Dead already, that very submarine washes up in Galveston, Texas, bearing the message “The End is the Beginning” written on it in spray paint.
And this is a kick ass add on, but the producers of Hot Ones are linking up with AMC on Run the Dish, a new The Walking Dead-inspired cooking show, which, you guessed it, features cuisines from the zombie apocalypse (just fingers crossed there are no human brains on the menu).
No additional info on the new series’ have so far been released, but no doubt AMC will start their promo efforts for them any day now. So sit back and get keen folks, because we’re gonna have enough content to last us a lifetime.
