Ending the week with some pretty sad news for the TV world, actress Jessica Walter, the actress who made us laugh for years as Lucile Bluth on Arrested Development, has passed away at the age of 80. It’s since been confirmed that she passed away in her sleep, with her daughter Brooke Bowman releasing a statement on the tragic news.
Speaking on her grave loss, Bowman said “It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica. A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off.
“While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”
A veteran in Hollywood, Walter’s decades-long career expanded far beyond Arrested Development, managing to star in another popular sitcom Archer, in which she voiced Malory Archer. She also portrayed the titular character in NBC’s Amy Prentiss in 1975 (which earned her an Emmy) along with starring in 1966’s Grand Prix and Play Misty for Me, in which she starred opposite Clint Eastwood in 1971.
But of course, she’ll be mainly remembered for her witty and cheeky portrayal of the lovely Lucille Bluth. Check out some of our favourite moments of her over the years below.
