Safe to say it’ll be the most ratchet version out there…

One of the most beloved shows of all time and quite possible the godfather of awkward comedy, The Office, is set to rise from the dead for an Aussie reboot. After what seemed like an eternity of delays (seriously, did someone misplace the Dundie Awards?), production for The Office: Australia is finally getting off the ground in sunny Sydney this June (complete with approval from show creator himself, Ricky Gervais).

Of course, the question of who will be taking on the iconic roles of Michael Scott or David Brent in this Aussie adaptation is probably the first thing that popped into your mind. However, the lead of the show has reportedly already been coast, with homegrown actress Felicity Ward announced for the main role.

The first season will consist of eight episodes and is slated for release on Prime Video in 2024. Speaking on the upcoming sit-com, senior development executive of Prime Video Australia, Sarah Christie, said in a statement, “We’re thrilled to bring this comedy juggernaut to our Prime Video customers, mate! Get ready for a ripper of a show that’ll have you in stitches, fair dinkum!”

Whether or not the show will live up to the iconic US or UK versions remains to be seen. All we want, however, is a quick cameo from Office royalty Steve Carrell or Ricky Gervais (if they manage to appear together, even better). For now, check out some of our favourite moments from the US iteration of The Office below.
