Jodie Cormer and Norman Reedus also star in the new epic…

After absolutely destroying his vocal chords and becoming something of a meme for his portrayal of Elvis in Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 biopic, Hollywood heartthrob Austin Butler is seemingly hellbent on keeping the hype going, once again adorning his Elvis accent in the trailer for The Bikeriders. And colour me optimistic, but the film actually looks really promising, so much so that it might just end up being one of the best bikie films in recent memory.

The trailer for the film introduces us to veteran head of the Vandals biker gang, Johnny, who’s played by eternal badass Tom Hardy. In classic Vin Diesel fashion, Hardy asserts that he “built this from nothing; this is our family, you and me, kid”, with Butler being the kid in question. It’s a pretty dynamite pairing between Hardy and Butler, with the former emanating a slight maniac vibe (man literally burns down a perfectly good bar for no reason at all) while mentee Butler is your classic tortured leading man.

We’re then quickly introduced to actress Jodie Cormer playing Butler’s wife Kathy, who also narrates the trailer. Joining her are Walking Dead alum Norman Reedus, Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook and numerous more, with all of whom playing their own versions of your quintessential twisted biker. It seems thing quickly start to fall apart for the Vandals, however, with Butler’s Benny growing disillusioned with the gang and eventually turning on Hardy, with the gang quickly falling apart after.

It’s got all the hallmarks of a classic, with the film rife with the gritty, grease-covered subculture of 1960s motorcycle riders. And hilariously, Disney actually dropped the film due to Oscar and marketing-related concerns (look who’s laughing now). Check out the trailer in full below.
