It finally happened. After a brief 11 days, Avengers: Infinity War has hit the $1 billion dollar mark.

After the claiming the title of a historical biggest worldwide opening, the Marvel mega-movie has now set the record for a film to gross over a billion dollars in the shortest amount of time. The previous record was 12 days, held by Star Wars: The Forces Awakens when it was released in 2015.

Marvel has truly set its sights on global domination with six films already in the exclusive billion dollar club. The entertainment company has also secured all top five spots for highest grossing superhero films of all time. If it isn’t clear by now, these movies have made a lot of money.

It cannot be overlooked that it took a long decade and a staggering 18 films to get to this point. With a cast than spans nearly the entirety of Hollywood, the long game has always been Marvel’s plan. Another two films are slated for release between now and the next Avengers sequel in 2019. It looks like these iconic superheroes won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
