It’s not easy crafting a successful follow-up to a hit show. Fans of the original are constantly comparing the new show to its predecessor, whether it be characters, storylines or even acting talent. But if there was ever a show that lived up to the hype of its predecessor and then some, Better Call Saul would be it. It’s done a pretty amazing job of establishing itself as a worthy successor to the cultural phenomenon of Breaking Bad, yet, fans are still hoping the shows cross paths just a tiny bit down the line, hoping for the man who started it all to appear on the prequel series before its time is done.
While promoting his upcoming Disney+ movie The One and Only Ivan, Bryan Cranston again teased the possibility of Walter White appearing on Better Call Saul. Of course, he seems eager af to make it happen, but it isn’t exactly up to him. Speaking on reprising the role, Cranston said “I would be in it if Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, who are co-executive producers on it, wanted me to be in it. I would do it in a second. But it hasn’t happened yet, I can tell you, and we’ll see. I don’t know. There’s one more season to go and we’ll see what happens!”
Although Better Call Saul takes place quite a while before Breaking Bad, it’s definitely possible for the show runners to make it happen. And Cranston has already reprised his role before, appearing in the Netflix movie El Camino, which follows Walter White’s sidekick Jesse Pinkman and his attempts to buy his way to freedom after the conclusion of Breaking Bad. So why not again? Fingers crossed producers listen to the people, and give us another taste of Walter White, even if it’s only for one more time.
