In an alternate reality the very same Nike sneakers are finding out about Will Ferrell…

There are few Hollywood castings that have drawn universal praise; Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Andy Serkis as literally any CGI bad guy. But one that gets nowhere near enough praise is Will Ferrell as the hilarious news broadcaster, Ron Burgundy. Ferrells effortless comedic bravado mixed with the total ridiculousness of Burgundy was a match made in heaven, and has rightly been lauded by film fans across the world.

One admirer that was rather taken by the film was none other than sportswear giant, Nike, who went so far as crafting a pair of Anchorman-inspired shoes. The truth was revealed during a recent episode of Sneaker Shopping, with host La Puma presenting a pair of the kicks to Ferrell. Astonishingly, the actor had never seen the shoes, which take their colors and patterns from the suit worn by his Ron Burgundy character in the film.

For a bit of context, the shoes in question (Nike SB Dunk Low “Anchorman”) were released in 2009. And despite Nike’s proclivity for collabs these days, back in the 2000s they were barely linking up with other personalities/brands, rather, sourcing inspiration from throughout pop culture.

The episode also sees the Wedding Crashers star reflect on his relationship with old Adidas sneaks (awkward for Nike), with the actor affirming his love for a “weird green” pair he wore in Old School while his character goes streaking.

Needless to say, if there was any film character who deserved his own shoe, it would without a doubt by Ron Burgundy. Check out the full episode of Sneaker Shopping below along with some pictures of the kicks in question. And remember, stay classy.
