In news that’s set to make Mad Max fans giddy with excitement, the new Mad Max prequel Furiosa is set to star Chris Hemsworth, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Anya Taylor-Joy (in the titular role). The film is set to follow the early life of Furiosa, the character Charlize Theron brought to life in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, in the hope of giving her a proper origin story.
According to reports when the writers were preparing for Fury Road, they wrote backstories for every character except Furiosa, yet Furiosa ended up being one of that film’s most popular characters, so it makes sense to do a proper origin story now right?
The film is seeing the return of George Miller as director, co-writer and producer, along with his producing partner Doug Mitchell, so no doubt we’ll be seeing a film on par with the calibre of Fury Road, if not better. And of course homegrown hero Chris Hemsworth will kill it in whatever role he plays in the new flick, along with Abdul-Mateen (who’s currently filming the new Matrix film).
It’s a solid cast, and no doubt we’re gonna be in for a hell of a ride whenever it drops. We’ll keep you updated the second we have any more details. Check out the OG trailer for 2015’s Fury Road below.
