Stranger Things is definitely a pop-culture phenomenon in every sense of the word, it’s beloved characters and plot-lines almost revered by all who watch. So its no surprise that everything an actor from the show says is analysed, broken down into the smallest particle in order to glean just a little bit of information for new episodes. Warning, potential spoilers lie ahead.
Luckily, David Harbour, who plays the police chief, hasn’t been at all cryptic or sly, directly stating the police chief’s return will bring along a big reveal about his backstory, which he’s known about since the show first started.
“It’s my favourite thing about him that you guys don’t know about him yet, but it has to do with these backstories of New York, Vietnam, and dad,” Harbour said, referencing a scene in season two where Eleven finds boxes in Hopper’s attic labelled “dad”, “Vietnam” and “New York”.
“I’m so excited about revealing this aspect of the character. It’s one of the things that I’ve known since the first frame of the first shot, and we haven’t expressed it yet. And finally we’re gonna express it in a big way”. This definitely sounds promising to say the least.
Harbour’s not the only one dropping hints, with Steve Harrington actor Joe Keery recently saying “I think that this year – and I know I say this every single year – but this is definitely going to be a lot scarier than prior years, because last year was pretty dark.”
Who else is as keen as we are? We’ll be watching closely to see when the season finally drops…
