Could you use a laugh?

Is your life in isolation a little depressing? Lonely? Or just plain boring? You bet it is. But for better or worse, we are all afforded a little extra time to sit on our couches and absorb massive portions of high-quality television (probs for worse TBH, but whatcha gon’ do?), and a little bit of standup comedy is one of the best ways to forget about your problems. Check out eight of our fave comedy specials that you can stream right now and have yourself a LOL-filled day.

Ricky Gervais – Humanity

I’ve gotta say I much prefer Ricky’s standup over anything else he’s done since Extras (let’s not even talk about Special Correspondents). Over-the-top arrogance, a thorough bashing of celebrity culture and his David Brent-like delivery – what more could you want?

Dave Chapelle – Sticks & Stones

Defo Dave’s funniest standup of the three he has on Netflix. You’d have to expect them to be pretty good, considering that he was paid a whopping $60 million to deliver them to our screens. Although his Michael Jackson bit courted a lot of controversy, I think it is probably the joke on this list that is most likely to bring you to tears from laughter…

Taylor Tomlinson – Quarter-Life Crisis

In her debut special, Taylor Tomlinson pulls no punches. She bridges that time between high school and family life (that I suppose most people call their 20s) hilariously. This special is also firm evidence that the whole “chicks aren’t funny” thing is fucking outdated and stupid.

Donald Glover – Weirdo

In between his acting career and becoming one of the biggest musicians on the planet, Donald Glover also dropped a pretty sweet standup special. Why not? He’s already making just about every human on the planet seem like a lazy person anyway.

Fred Armisen – Standup For Drummers

So you don’t have to be a drummer to enjoy this one, but it would definitely enhance the experience. Armisen’s impersonations and accents are fucking great, and some awesome guests join him on stage for a couple of jams. If you’ve watched Portlandia and not checked it, what is wrong with you?

Ken Jeong – You Complete Me, Ho

Watching Ken Jeong run around like a fucking madman on Community, which was recently added to Netflix, has definitely reignited my appreciation for how off-the-wall funny this guy is. The special also includes more “Ho jokes” than any standup set ever (Ho is his wife’s name BTW).

Nikki Glaser – Bangin’

A regular guest on Joe Rogan’s podcast, Nikki Glaser takes aim at “bros” in Bangin’ and knocks them down effortlessly. If you’re watching this and start to feel a little butthurt, go take a long look in the mirror.

Jim Jeffries – This Is Me Now

Having hosted a successful late night show and posted huge numbers on his podcast, it’s fair to say that Jim Jeffries is one of Australia’s biggest ever comedy exports. It’s especially impressive when you consider that he spends most of his time hanging shit on American culture…
