And now for something completely different!

We just had this little doozy float into our inbox, and when there’s stellar local talent involved, we’re bound to be onboard. Tay Kaka is a videographer and photographer from Perth, and the main man behind the lens over at West Coast tastemakers Pilerats. Now, Tay has unveiled a solo project that he holds close to his heart – a two-part video series called Pairs. According to Tay, the work is “an exploration into the looming change that surrounds relationships during the New Year months.”

Today, we’re premiering the first part of the series, aptly titled Late December. As we head towards Christmas and the new year in real time, some of the visuals here are bound to resonate with you if you’ve fallen in love, out of love, or just have a lot of emotions. Cue that Drake mixtape! Speaking on the video, Tay says “It’s so hard to look toward the future when you’re straight out of high school. Well it’s hard for me now but you’re in an especially enclosed pubescent bubble during those years. I wanted to approach Late December with the idea that everything will be okay in the end. The bubble will pop, but the air is breathable.”

Watch Late December below, where you’ll also find Tay’s photos to accompany the piece. Also keep two eyes open for the next installment of Pairs arriving soon:
