Gonna be an interesting take…

After years of speculation and rumours, it appears the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is finally getting the reboot we’ve all been waiting for, with the revival in the process of being pitched to various streaming outlets.

However, it appears the reboot of the beloved 90s sit-com is set to be a darker, grittier version of the Fresh Prince, based on a viral clip by filmmaker Morgan Cooper that caught the attention of Will Smith himself. Cooper is attached to the new production as a writer as well, which totally makes sense. His initial clip for the reimagining of the show definitely went into the darker parts of the Fresh Prince story, from the circumstances that led Will moving to Bel-Air to his relationship with his mother to the loneliness he felt upon settling into his new home.

Aside from the fact that Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios are set to produce alongside Universal TV (including OG producer Quincy Jones) it appears the reboot is still being kept under wraps. Fingers crossed we get a trailer or something soon. But for now, check out the clip that even got the ball rolling for the reboot in the first place. Warning, there’s literally zero laughs, but a whole lot of heart. Check it below.
