Representatives for Chris Pine have denied any spittage occurred.

People are convinced that Harry Styles spat in Chris Pine’s lap after a video emerged of the two at the premiere of their new film Don’t Worry Darling. The Olivia Wilde-directed flick has been surrounded by a flurry of controversy and the latest is just a drop in the bucket (or should we say lap?).

In a video posted to Twitter, Styles can be seen sitting down next to Pine before the latter appears to react to something in his lap. Naturally, the internet has blown up the event to colossal proportions, so much so that the controversy has now been dubbed ‘spit-gate’.

While there’s likely a perfectly good explanation, the unfortunate video does appear convincing – not least of all because Styles seems to wear a subtle smirk as he settles into his seat. Some have argued that Pine is merely reacting to his sunglasses, which are placed on the chair between his legs.

Representatives for Pine have since responded to the controversy, calling it a “ridiculous story” and asserting: “Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine.”Spit or no spit, the responses have been excellent.
