The longtime Batman is playing the villain in the latest Thor epic…

In what is sure to rustle a couple of feathers over at DC, former Dark Knight Christian Bale is making his Marvel debut in the new Thor film this July as villain Gorr the God Butcher who, you guessed it, kills gods.

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor (AKA God of Thunder) is at the very top of his list in today’s trailer, especially given he’s gone back from “dad bod to God bod” as so eloquently narrated by Taika Waititi’s Korg.

Other notable inclusions in the new trailer include Natalie Portman in full hero mode, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and Russell Crowe, who makes his debut as Zeus. But understandably, Bale steals the show from all of the above, his various lines referencing his god-inspired bloodlust him to achieve a magnetism similar to Josh Brolin’s Thanos in the Avengers films. Only time will tell however whether his portrayal of Gorr will live up to such standards. For now check out the full trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder below.
