Trying not to get my hopes up but damn…

Continuing to tease us ever so addictively, Lakers star and overall NBA killer LeBron James has given us a new sneak peak of Space Jam: A New Legacy. The upcoming sequel to the 1996 classic, which was produced by James himself along with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, is set to be released on July 16. This time however, it features James in the starring role as opposed to Michael Jordan, who helped help the original film into superstardom when it first came out.

The new sneak peak (courtesy of LeBron) are a bunch of first-look photos taken for his exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, featuring him in the Tune Squad kit along with an image of him dunking a thunderous basketball and even sharing the screen with the legendary Don Cheedle.

Speaking on the film, James said “In my younger days, part of my thinking was Space Jam was so good, how can I top this?

“There’s always going to be conversations about LeBron trying to do everything Michael did. But I’ve gotten older, and you know who you are. You know what you stand for.”

The upcoming epic is set to follow LeBron and his onscreen son as they attempt to escape a virtual reality by winning a basketball game against an artificial intelligence. Naturally, Space Jam alumni like Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety and the rest of the Tune Squad appear along the way.

Pretty sick. Check the new sneak peak below.
