Very worthy cause…

Former adult film-star Mia Khalifa has come through with a super dope move for the Lebanese Red Cross, auctioning off her iconic black glasses to raise money for Beirut relief efforts, following the deadly explosion there just weeks ago. The blast, which killed 178 and injured 6,000, saw the Beirut-born celeb immediately spring to action, announcing she’d be auctioning off the famous glasses to the highest bidder.

Taking to Instagram, Khalifa wrote “I’m just trying to get creative, there’s always more that can be done and this felt like a cheeky way to raise funds and make sure the conversation and attention doesn’t diverge from this crisis.”

Labelling the condition of the specs as “used and abused”, Khalifa added on the eBay listing “The novelty glasses are the best prop, I will sign them (if you want), and take one last polaroid wearing them before sending them off to their new home!!!” She also added extra items for “every $25k raised”, chucking in extra items such as a ‘used sideburn razor’, the ‘the loofa I’ve been meaning to switch out’ and ‘my retainer’. As a result, Khalifa has raised $100,000 USD ($139,000 AUD) for the Beirut relief efforts, clocking up nearly 200 bids along the way.

Pretty awesome move by Mia, and such a cool way of using her influence and celebrity to raise much needed funds for the Lebanese people. If you were at all keen on helping out as well, you can donate directly to the Lebanese Red Cross here.
