It’s actually just a good excuse to watch movies all weekend long in preparation. I know I have my plans locked in.

He’s the most celebrated killer, period. With over 160 confirmed kills, Chris Kyle is not a man you would want to bump into in a dark alley. The film follows the American hero through his four tours of duty, and the stresses of work and personal life, until his unfortunate death. Directed by Clint Eastwood, it’s a visual epic which is to be expected, but my favourite bit is seeing Bradley Cooper pack on a few pounds for the role, and make his acting so good I forget I’m watching Bradley Cooper. Plus, it makes me feel a bit better about myself packing on the pounds. Thank you Brad.
American Sniper
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
Boyhood
The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Imitation Game
Selma
The Theory of Everything
Whiplash
I know I’m repeating myself but, you can’t pick the ‘Best Picture’ and not have the actor as ‘Best Actor’. It doesn’t make any sense, right! The film would be shit otherwise. Plus I gave my reasoning above. Case closed.
Bradley Cooper – American Sniper
Steve Carell – Foxcatcher
Benedict Cumberbatch – The Imitation Game
Michael Keaton – Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
Eddie Redmayne – The Theory of Everything

This is the story of a sick and twisted bored house wife who disappears. The movie keeps you guessing on what the hell is actually going to happen and the outcome of it all. Rosamund freaks the hell out of me in this film and pushes the character to the extreme. If you haven’t seen it, watch it. It’s not what you expect. Plus the scene were Emily Ratajkowski gets her kit off, yet again, is a plus.
Marion Cotillard – Two Days, One Night
Felicity Jones – The Theory of Everything
Julianne Moore – Still Alice
Rosamund Pike – Gone Girl
Reese Witherspoon – Wild

No doubt any movie with Robert Downing Junior is gold, but Robert Duvall knows how to play a stubborn prick. An old man set in his ways is no surprise to anyone, and you won’t like him either. He’s self righteous, always right and demands respect. But in this tale of daddy/son issues, you start to fall in love with old codger. Plus we can’t ever forget his role back in ‘Gone In 60 Seconds’, the man who everyone looked up to. Remember when we all imagined we would be driving around in $100,000+ cars by the age of 21? Reality sucks.
Robert Duvall – The Judge
Ethan Hawke – Boyhood
Edward Norton – Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
Mark Ruffalo – Foxcatcher
J.K. Simmons – Whiplash

We all remember when this pretty lil thing graced the screens in ‘Bend It Like Beckham’. Then we got over pouted with the blockbuster series of ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’. Being nominated once before, we hope she may get it this time. Playing cryptanalyst Joan Clarke, helping to try and crack the ‘Enigma’ code, she had to come across very intelligent and sexy at the same time. Maybe it’s the English accent mixed in with number nerd talk that does it.
Patricia Arquette – Boyhood
Laura Dern – Wild
Keira Knightley – The Imitation Game
Emma Stone – Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
Meryl Streep – Into the Woods

Who has ever wished they could be a self made super hero? Don’t lie to yourself, we all have. This highly entertaining film, makes everything you imagined as a kid come to life. The animation is mind blowing and the film actually has some good laughs thanks to the likes of Damon Wayans Jr. & T.J. Miller. Go on, be a kid again.
Big Hero 6
The Boxtrolls
How to Train Your Dragon 2
Song of the Sea
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
