Good to see Pete taking on some different roles…

The king of Staten Island Pete Davidson is pushing his limits and then some with his current projects, whether it be promoting Mortal Kombat games, performing sold ut specials or acting in groundbreaking films like The King Of Staten Island, the man is continuing to prove his career is on his terms, and that he’ll literally do whatever TF he wants.

Thus, it appears that ethos has met a perfect companion in his latest announced project, as Pete has been chosen to play punk icon Joey Ramone in Netflix’s upcoming series I Slept With Joey Ramone. The news came yesterday on what was the 20th anniversary of Ramone’s death in 2001, succumbing to a seven year battle with lymphoma at the age of 49.

A statement from STXfilms for the new series read “When you share a bed with someone — and not just a bed, but a childhood, a family, and a lifetime — you know that person better than anybody else.”

“Mickey Leigh not only collaborated with his big brother’s band – he has irreplaceable memories of and insights into Joey Ramone, having supported him when no one else would and witnessed him overcome adversity in the most dramatic way. I Slept with Joey Ramone is a great rock anthem that will make an equally great rock biopic, set apart by a universal story of family.

“Pete is perfect for this role and we’re excited he and Jason will be bringing this icon of rock to life and thrilled to be collaborating once again with our friends at Netflix.”

If you’re not familiar with the legend of Ramone, he co-founded the Ramones, one of the groups that kicked off the punk revolution in the U.S. He started off as a drummer but turned to vocals early on – cultivating a killer stage presence as he set the stage for so many punk artists to come.

No doubt Pete will be able to capture his edginess in spades (especially given the fact that they have exactly the same face). Check out some of Pete’s acting chops in King Of Staten Island along with some interview footage of Ramone to get an idea of what to expect.
