The In Pieces Together film is hitting the road ahead of landing on Kayo, Fox Sports, Foxtel, and Binge.

In case you’ve missed the trailer all over the internet over the past couple of weeks, mental health and suicide support initiative In Pieces will be releasing their documentary In Pieces Together next week on May 13th across a handful of streaming services.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Macario de Souza (Bra Boys, 6 Festivals, Fighting Fear), In Pieces Together is centred around Blakey Johnston’s record-breaking surf and ongoing mission to spark a national conversation about mental health and suicide.

“This journey started from a deeply personal place, but these struggles aren’t unique to me. At the heart of this film is a simple belief – everyone deserves to feel awesome,” Johnston says. If it can shift the way we talk about mental health, even just a little, and inspire people to reconnect, ask for help, or support someone else, then that ripple effect could be life-changing.”

“I met Blake when I was processing my own challenges and was inspired by the way he navigated mental health struggles with honesty and purpose,” de Souza says. “The film is about opening up better conversations that people, especially men, struggle to have.”

The film also features contributions from NRL great and Fox Sports commentator Braith Anasta, The Inspired Unemployed’s Matt Ford and Jack Steele, NRL player Connor Watson, pro surfer Koda Killorn, TV journalist Laura Jayes, podcaster, sports presenter & First Nations media advocate Marlee Silva, tattoo artist Gummy Johnston, musician Kobie Dee, broadcaster and Life Without Andy co-founder Mitch Tomlinson, and Australian of the Year psychiatrist Professor Pat McGorry and more.

In Pieces Together builds on the initiative’s tattoo activations, which have seen over 500 tattooed with individual but connected puzzle pieces, and recently announced jewellery collaboration with Artefact.

To celebrate the launch of In Pieces Together, premiere events that will feature the film – as well as a live tattoo activation – In Pieces Together – are happening around the country (dates below). We urge you to get along and watch this important film and soak up its message.
