Consider our blood-thirst officially quenched…

Film production companies Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have officially announced that the latest installment of the Saw franchise will arrive next year. Following 2021’s spinoff film Spiral, the upcoming Saw will mark the series’ tenth overall, and is expected to hit cinemas next Halloween on October 27, 2023.

Kevin Greutert, who directed 2009’s Saw VI and 2010’s Saw: The Final Chapter, will return to the upcoming iteration. Details of  Saw 10’s plot remain relatively sparse (we’re guessing there’ll be death traps involved), but the film’s producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules said they’ve been listening to horror fans ahead of the cult series’ forthcoming return.

“[We] are hard at work planning a movie that Saw aficionados and horror fans alike will love, and part of that is giving the reins to Kevin Greutert, director of Saw VI, which is still one of the fans’ favorites in the entire series. More details will be revealed soon,” the pair said in a statement.

Beginning in 2004 with its inaugural entry, Saw has gone on to become a billion-dollar franchise, most recently enlisting actors Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson for the 2021 spinoff, Spiral. Check out Scary Movie‘s spoof of Saw below, since it’s a little too early for an amputation montage.
