Get ready to be scared…

In news that will make horror/ slasher fans overjoyed to say the least, a fifth Scream film is happening, and it’s already looking extremely promising.

Cast member Courteney Cox took to Instagram to make the announcement, who is expected to reprise her role as journalist Gale Weathers in the new flick. It really seems like most of the OG cast is set to make a comeback, like David Arquette who’ll be returning as Sheriff Dwight “Dewey” Riley and Neve Campbell who’s in talks to reprise her role of Sidney Prescott. However, director Wes Craven, who directed the first four films, sadly died of a brain tumour in 2015. The fifth instalment will instead be directed by the duo behind 2019 sleeper thriller Ready or Not, so no doubt they’ll do Craven proud.

Filming is set to begin later this year in North Carolina, and is expected to be released in early 2021. Fingers crossed we get the fifth instalment we’ve all been waiting for. Check out the trailer for the first film from way back in 1996 to get a glorious reminder of the beauty that is the Scream series.
