In unusual but unsurprising news, Seth Rogen wants to make a weird movie. This time about a meme that ends the world as we know it.

While the idea probably came to him either during or after a joint (we assume these are his only two natural states), the premise of the film actually comes from a Boom! Comic by James Tynion IV, titled ‘Memetic’. In the comic, the “Good Time Sloth” meme causes people to become psychotic and violent, thus leading to society’s downfall. In the graphic novel, the protagonist, Aaron, is colourblind and therefore immune to the power of the sloth. At this stage we have no idea who might play that role but surely James Franco squinting his way through a post-apocalyptic world could be on.

Mattson Tomlin – who is writing the script for Matthew Reeves’ The Batman – will write and adapt the graphic novel while Seth Rogen’s Point Grey and Boom! Studios will produce the on-screen adaptation. Here’s hoping Seth gets the band back together for this one.
