Succession creator and show runner Jesse Armstrong has dropped some info on the upcoming season, teasing that season three of the HBO show could start filming as soon as late 2020. The news comes after the acclaimed series starring Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook and more was forced to suspend production in March, alongside fellow HBO hit Barry.
Talking to Variety, Armstrong said that the plan is “trying to think about starting shooting in New York before Christmas.” But it’s not totally set in stone, with Armstrong adding, “Who knows if that’ll come about, but that’s the plan at the moment.”
Armstrong hasn’t offered any hints about possible storylines for the new season, instead leaving us to theorise and imagine. But the last time we saw the Roy family, oldest son Kendall (played by Strong) had come out against his father roy (Cox), with sibling Shiv (Snook) and Roman (Culkin) visibly taken aback by the revolt. Thus, tensions were coming to a proper head at the end of the season, and no doubt season three is gonna be filled with mad fighting and plotting from the get-go.
But even if HBO manages to get the ball rolling on Succession season three, it’ll still be a while till we get a taste of the premiere, which would most likely be out by late 2021. But for now, all we can really do is wait and see what happens. Check the trailer from season two below to get a feel for what we can expect in season two.
