Somehow I don’t believe Thor when he says this…

Following the critical acclaim of last year’s Spiderman: No Way Home and the building anticipation for the upcoming Dr. Strange sequel Multiverse of Madness, Marvel is continuing with its series of standalone films, dropping the trailer for the highly-anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder.

Set to Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’, the trailer for the new Thor instalment finds mythical god Thor Odinson leaving the hero life behind following the events of Avengers: Endgame, insisting that his “superhero days are over” as he decides to spend his time finding himself with Chris Pratt’s Guardians of the Galaxy. But much to our relief, the one-and-a-half minute trailer proves that statement to be short-lived to say the least.

Taika Waititi is also back on directing duties for the new flick, along with Natalie Portman who will reprise her role of Jane Foster after an almost ten year hiatus from the Marvel universe. It seems the former love interest of Thor will be front and centre in the new blockbuster, the final scene of the teaser showing her wielding Thor’s hammer Mjolinir as the God of Thunder watches on in sheer surprise. No doubt the film will be full of plenty more shocks and revelations when it’s released on July 8th. Check out the full teaser below.
