In some amazing news that we weren’t expecting, but are totally getting around, Sylvester Stallone has joined the cast of the upcoming Suicide Squad movie.
The news was confirmed after Stallone shared a now-deleted video to his Instagram as well as a screenshot of an article announcing his casting. It seems Stallone is having a good time and a half working on the new film, captioning the post “Working with this incredible Director on this astounding project has made this an amazing year. I am a very lucky man to be surrounded by such talent.”
The director he’s referring to is James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2), who’s helming the new film, which is currently set for release next year on August 6. Gunn took to his own Instagram to announce the news as well, posting a pic of them both with the caption “Always love working with my friend @officialslystallone & our work today on #TheSuicideSquad was no exception. Despite Sly being an iconic movie star, most people still don’t have any idea what an amazing actor this guy is.”

He’s definitely not wrong, and just going off past action roles such as Rambo, Rocky and The Expendables, as well as more dramatic performances like Creed, we can expect a fully-formed badass in the upcoming film. And he’s sharing the screen with the likes of Margot Robbie, Idris Elba and Pete Davidson (I for one am so interested to see Pete in the superhero world), so no doubt he’s surrounded by killer talent.
Watch the trailer for the first Suicide Squad below and get keen.
