Only in Australia…

You’ve no doubt heard of the Northern Territory’s ‘CU in the NT’ tourism slogan as well as WA’s ‘WAP,’ but you’re about to hear the slogan of all slogans, and it’s coming from South Australia of all places.

Some bright eyed, probably horny bugger in the SA tourism office is either copping a lot of heat, or scoring major brownie points for the saucy new line right about now, which urges tourists to ‘Go down South with your mouth.’ Like, there’s no fucking way someone didn’t realise how that would be received.

But turns out it’s referring to South Australia’s culinary scene, being home to “world-class chefs, industry-leading winemakers, and producers of the most sought after organic delights. Its comfortable climate allows visitors to enjoy the finest flavours with a backdrop of spectacular natural landscapes and stunning cities.” They even went so far as to say that “South Australia has ranked second in the world for its food and wine experiences. That’s after cultural giant France and even a step ahead of Italy. SA is home to the finest dining in the country and we are one of the great wine capitals of the world.

“If Australia is second in the world for food and wine, and South Aus has the finest dining in Australia, we reckon it’s about time you Taste Down South.”

In the words of Will Smith’s character from his film Focus, “Die with the lie.” Check out the slogan and some of the online reactions online below.
