Almost three years following its explosive release, Todd Phillips’ Joker is finally getting a sequel, and today we’ve gotten the official title for the new epic.
Dubbed Joker: Folie a Deux, the upcoming sequel is set to see Phoenix reprise the titular role that earned him a ‘Best Actor’ Oscar in 2020. As for the meaning behind the name, ‘Folie a Deux’ means shared psychotic disorder, no doubt a reference to the mental decay and havoc the Joker is notorious for wreaking havoc across the DC universe.
To make things a little sweeter, along with sharing the announcement for the upcoming film, director Todd Phillips has also seemingly confirmed the draft for the film, posting a photo of Joker star Joaquin Phoenix reading the final draft, which was reportedly finalised on May 18th.

No word yet on the details of the film or when it’ll be released. No doubt it’s good to know however that Joaquin Phoenix will reprise the role of the maniacal criminal. For now, relive the trailer of the 2019 film below.
