Only in America could this actually be a thing. A sleepy Uber driver decided it was a good idea to ask his passenger to take over so he can have a lil’ power down. It seems fair considering the trip was 482km, which would be like over four hours – can you imagine getting the receipt for that fare? We hope that shit wasn’t on surge pricing.
Driver Corey Robinson was hired by Juan R. Carlos for the fare, and after catching a few of those coveted Z’s, he eventually awoke to the little Hyundai Sonata pushing a casual 138KMPH. Corey asked Carlos one simple question when he woke: Why? The reason was equally simple: The police are chasing us.
This high-speed police pursuit resulted in the fuzz finding the poor Hyundai crashed on the side of road and stuck in the guardrails. Both individuals were hospitalised and arrested. Carlos incurred several traffic violations as he unlawfully fled a police officer in a motor vehicle. Oh yeah, he was also driving without a license. However, Robinson was released without charge.
5 star ratings all round? Not anymore, as both parties have now been banned by Uber. Devastating. In related news, this chihuahua also led a police chase in California earlier this week, making for the best video footage ever. In kinda-related news, how good is the song ‘Let Me Ride’ by Dr. Dre? Petition for ‘Let Me Ride’ to become Uber’s official theme song, please:
