Millions of memes were born from this very moment…

You might remember way back in January, when actor Rob Lowe went to the NFC Championship between the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers. You might also remember his attire for the occasion. Black button up shirt, black tee underneath and a black hat. Seems pretty standard right? You’re not wrong. It’s too standard in fact. If you draw your eyes to the upper section of Lowe’s body, you’ll come to find a special logo on his hat. “What logo?” you might ask? None other than the NFL logo. A blunder that made for millions of memes and plenty of online sledging, Lowe’s wearing an NFL hat to the game was hilarious, the equivalent of wearing an NRL shirt to a Knights vs Broncos game, an NBA hat to a Lakers vs Bulls game, or even a shirt that says ‘music’ to a concert. I guess, for a regular person, this wouldn’t be a big deal, but Lowe is a celebrity, hence the internet came for him by the thousands.

Speaking on the moment a little while back, Lowe said “It was the best thing I ever did picking that hat. First of all, I love the hat. It’s simple, I love that logo, it’s cool. Frankly I’d never seen a hat like that before. I didn’t even know you could get an NFL shield hat. So I was, like, ‘Oh, this is badass, I’m gonna wear this,’ and then it had the added benefit of not pissing off any division in the stands, cause I didn’t really have a dog in that fight.”

Now, Lowe has opened up on that hilarious moment even more, revealing that Major League Baseball hit him up after the blunder. When asked whether he specifically has an MLB hat, Lowe responded “I do!“I almost wore it. I can go get it. I have an MLB … literally within 48 hours of wearing that hat, the MLB sent me their version of it. I have it in my closet.” That’s quite a hilarious move by the MLB, and no doubt would make for some glorious marketing should Rob ever don the hat at a future game.

The podcast also Lowe talk with the Talkin’ Baseball hosts about everything baseball, from their concerns about the LA bullpen, sitting next to Vin Scully at the 2017 World Series loss and potentially facing Houston in the World Series again.
