As the days in lockdown turn into weeks in lockdown, it’s hard to avoid a looming sense of confinement and claustrophobia. Many of us are spending all of our time inside, barre a walk to the shops or a bit of exercise, waiting for the monotony to finally end and the right to move freely returned to us.
It’s these themes and experiences that Sydney based director and photographer Lester Jones has captured in his short film, The Charge. Shot on 16mm, before COVID-19 had taken over, the film explores isolation and its dissolution metaphorically and directly through a stunning collage of gothic shots and a seemingly omniscient voice over.
