In the words of Weird Al himself: Get psyched!

Following months of leaked BTS shots and teasers online, today we’ve finally gotten a look at the new Weird Al Yankovic biopic in the form of an official teaser.

Set to the Weird Al classic ‘Like A Surgeon’ (a parody of Madonna’s ‘Like A Virgin’), the trailer sees Harry Potter alum Daniel Radcliffe take on the role of the legendary rocker in his rise to superstardom. It definitely draws plenty of parallels to the 2018 Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, with the trailer showcasing plenty of recreations of Weird Al’s iconic live performances along with all the crazy antics he pulled on stage. Old mate’s signature accordion makes an appearance as well, so much so that it’s almost a supporting character in the one minute teaser.

As for Radcliffe’s portrayal of Weird Al, his American accent is passable at best. But he definitely captures Weird Al’s trademark quirkiness and, well, weirdness, that he captivated the masses with when he first burst onto the scene. Only time will tell however as to whether the flick will live up to the hype. A release date for Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, is yet to be announced, however it is expected to drop in the tail end of this year. Check out the full teaser below.
