The former wizard has fallen off the rails…
Just a couple months out from the release of the official Weird Al Yankovic biopic Weird, we’ve today gotten the official trailer for the upcoming epic. Starring Harry Potter alum Daniel Radcliffe in the titular role, the film is set to take an unfiltered look into the musicians life, and judging by the today’s trailer, it’s safe to say they’re not leaving any crumbs.
Clocking in at nearly three minutes long, the new teaser sees Radcliffe embody Yankovic at the various stages of his career, from his meteoric rise to his falling off the rails and of course, his love affair with Evan Rachel Woods’ Madonna (whether or not the two ever actually hooked up though actually is unconfirmed). Still, it’s definitely an unfiltered portrayal of the music legend, with various scenes showing his struggle with alcohol, drugs and fame.
The star of the trailer is surprisingly not Radcliffe, however, but The Office‘s Rainn Wilson, who plays the man who discovered and named Weird Al, Dr. Demento. It’s basically just Rainn Wilson playing himself while donning an 18th century getup, but alas, he totally kills it. Check out the full trailer below.
