Looks promising…

Get ready to be introduced to your new obsession, as the writers of Brooklyn Nine-Nine have whipped up a tasty new sitcom in Rutherford Falls. The new show, which focuses on comedic stars Ed Helms and Jana Schmieding, sees two best mates try to remind their small town of Rutherford of its cultural roots.

The trailer sees the town fight to keep its founder’s historical statue in the middle of a road (who’s actually an ancestor of Helms’ character Nathan Rutherford). Schmieding, who plays, Reagan Wells, however, is focused to building a museum inside a casino to honour Native American history, which ends up being way harder than she anticipates when she realises that she’s getting a lot of pushback. Thus, the two lifelong friends join forces in order to get their town to care about its historical past.

The cast also includes stars Michael Greyeyes (I Know This Much Is True), Jesse Leigh (Heathers) and Dustin Milligan (Schitt’s Creek), all of whom appear to be firing on all cylinders in the trailer. In a sick move as well, the show has one of the largest Indigenous writer’s rooms in TV, with everyone from co-creator and executive producer Sierra Teller Ornelas to writers Bobby Wilson and Tai Leclai all belonging to various Native American tribes from around the US.

Rutherford Falls is set to be released on Peacock on April 22. Check out the debut trailer below.
