After over ten years, the long awaited sequel to James Cameron’s Avatar is finally being released, and today we’ve gotten our first look in the form of a teaser trailer…

Picking up right where the 2009 blockbuster left off, the trailer follows returning Na’vi power couple Jake Sully and Neytiri (played by Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana) as they continue to rebuild the moon of Pandora after the events of the first film. Unsurprisingly, there’s a new threat on the horizon for our characters, forcing them to traverse the jungle moon in search of hope for the coming fight.

In terms of the visual effects and overall look of the film, the trailer focuses heavily on the oceanic side of the planet, showcasing wide-spanning panoramas of tropical surrounds. It seems there’ll be plenty of humans in this film as well, with numerous scenes showcasing the Pandora foreigners working together with the Na’vi in what’s a stark contrast to the original film.

It’s no doubt got the excitement peaking, and luckily for us, we’ll be getting at least another two films under the Avatar banner over the coming years (imagine waiting another 13 years). Avatar: The Way Of Water is set to land on December 16th. Check out the full trailer below.
