Continuing its run of dropping fire content over 2020, Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming superhero epic Project Power, along with announcing a release date of August 14.
The film is set in the U.S. city of New Orleans where a special drug is regularly used to give a person superhuman abilities – but only for five minutes. Jamie Foxx stars as a father who has to use the drug to its fullest extent, in order to rescue his daughter from a dangerous drug dealer. The film also stars Inception star Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who portrays a police officer who helps Foxx with his search.
The trailer opens with Foxx’s narration, explaining the nature of the superhero pill before asking “Would you take it?”
We’re then treated to a compilation of various people taking the pill and the different powers they acquire as a result, all before showing Foxx’s daughter kidnapped and the adventure he embarks on to get her back. It’s properly intense, and turns the superhero genre inside & out.
The film will be directed by duo Ariel Schulman & Henry Joost (Catfish, Viral, Nerve and Paranormal Activity 3 & 4), and is being written by Mattson Tomlin, co-writer of the upcoming The Batman. No doubt this is gonna be dope to say the least. Check the trailer below.
