The Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially concluding Phase 4 via the release of Guardians Of The Galaxy: Holiday Special, with the teaser for the long-awaited epic being unveiled today. Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Batista, Vin Diesel and more returning stars, the film serves as not only a sequel to the 2017 film, but a follow-up to 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
Picking up where the latter film left off, Pratt’s Star-Lord is left grieving following the death of his love interest, Gamora. However, with Christmas fast approaching, his fellow Guardians devise a plan to lift his spirits, deciding to return to Earth to retrieve a “really wonderful Christmas gift”. The gift in this instance is none other than Star-Lord’s favourite actor, Kevin Bacon.
It’s a hilarious premise that the trailer captures in spades, with Dave Batista’s Dark and Pom Klementieff’s Mantis shown to be breaking into the actors home in a bid to kidnap him. In typical fashion, the plan falls apart almost immediately, and laugher quickly ensues. A highlight is no doubt the shot the one minute teaser ends on, with the two heroes jumping over hedges as a distressed Bacon runs for his life in the foreground.
The new project marks Disney’s second project that doesn’t fit in the feature-length film or streaming series categories, however, it will premiere on November 25 on Disney+ all the same. Check out the full trailer below.
