After years of starring in blockbusters and doing just about everything there is to do in Hollywood, multi-talented wonder Jamie Foxx has returned to his sit-com roots with his upcoming Netflix show Dad, Stop Embarrassing Me!
The new flick is inspired by his relationship with his daughter, Corrine Foxx, and sees him reunite with his In Living Color castmate David Allen Grier, who coincidently plays his father in the show. Other co-stars include Kyla-Drew, Porscha Coleman, Jonathan Kite, Heather Hemmens, and Valente Rodriguez, with Foxx’s daughter Corrinne serving as a producer.
The first trailer sees the star channel all of the hilarious ridiculousness of In Living Color, but with a gorgeous 2021 flip, showing off various eccentric characters along with Foxx in crazy situations, allowing their acting chops and the show’s killer writing to truly shine. The chemistry between Foxx and Grier is top notch as well, showing that the years apart haven’t done anything to dampen their acting rapport.
Aside from the sit-com, Foxx is still firing on all cylinders on the big screen, returning as Electro in the upcoming Spiderman: No Way Home. It’s still unclear as to how his character will be incorporated into the film, especially since his version of Electro was from a different cinematic universe altogether. But we’ll find out all those answers later this year. For now, check out the trailer for Dad, Stop Embarrassing Me! below.
