Liam Neeson is back doing what he does best in the trailer for his upcoming film The Marksman, this time playing a hardened rancher Jim Hanson who’s living the iso life in rural Arizona. However, things change when he witnesses 11-year-old Miguel fleeing from drug cartel assassins with his mother Rosa. Hanson then has to take Miguel into his care when a dying Rosa begs him to transport him to her family in Chicago.
The film then follows the pair’s journey together as the assassins are in hot pursuit, slowly overcoming their differences to form an unlikely friendship. Oh, we should’ve mentioned, but Neeson’s character is randomly an ex-Marine sharpshooter, so of course all the killers on their tail don’t stand a fucking chance.
The two-minute trailer features some glorious rural landscape shots (along with a super cute doggo sticking its out of a car) along with some nail-biting action that Neeson’s come to be a bloody master of. It might look like more of the same usual action we’ve come to expect from Neeson, but like Taken, The Marksman has a proper emotional story at the heart of it, so it looks like we’re gonna get to see those classic dramatic chops we know he’s in no short supply of.
It looks super promising, check it out below.
