Is this the future of super hero films?

For all of its violence and twists, Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy felt more like a trio of action films when compared to the psychological-thriller Joker. And from what we’ve seen in Matt Reeves’ The Batman teaser and trailer, the American director is leaning more towards the dark side too. Somehow, I don’t think we’ll be seeing Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne in a pink polo, sipping champagne at the resolution of this series…

The new trailer which dropped yesterday – hey, we all need a day off now and then – is soundtracked by a brooding reimagination of Nirvana’s ‘Something’s In The Way’, and lets in very little light. We get our first glimpses of Paul Dano as Riddler, which sees him keep his Prisoners energy going, as well as the stunning Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and a barely recognisable Colin Farrell as Penguin.
