Hot on the promo run for his upcoming autobiographical show Young Rock, Dwayne Johnson appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon to give more deets on the show, as well as tease a possible presidential feature. However, the moment that’s got people talking is definitely not his giving the deets on the show, but rather, the adorable moment his mum crashed the interview, and somehow turned it into a ukulele/ singing jam.
The moment comes at around 6:17 when Rock brings her in to say hi to Fallon. Some classic small talk ensues along with Jimmy’s classic over-the-top laugh, before she busts outs the ukulele at 7:40 to sing a song with her son. You can see Rock properly embarrassed in the best kind of way, but his mum obviously doesn’t care, going all the way as she proves that showmanship truly runs in the Johnson family.
The interview also saw Rock explain more of his upcoming sitcom, explaining that Young Rock takes place during “three points of my life that were defining times. When I was 10 years old living here in Hawaii; when I was 15 years old, after multiple arrests and doing a lot of things I shouldn’t have been doing; and then when I was 18 years old, when I started to get my life a little bit back on track.”
He also addressed his hesitancy to include a presidential storyline in the show, stating that he felt it was “a little political,” but being convinced by show creator Nahnatchka Khan that there would be an audience who would love to see him run for president (definitely not wrong).
The upcoming show is set to premiere on February 16. But we know what you came for, check out the wholesome moment Rock’s mum steals his interview below.
