Sydney Sweeney, faced a nerve-wracking moment during the filming of the upcoming romantic comedy Anyone But You. The movie, co-starring Glen Powell of Top Gun: Maverick fame, was shot in Sydney earlier this year, and the plot is set against the backdrop of Australia – good for us.
In a scene from the film slated for release on Boxing Day, Sweeney’s character, Bea, stumbles upon a spider while walking in the bushland. The real-life experience mirrored the spine-chilling intensity of the scene, as Sweeney disclosed that she was bitten multiple times by a “huge” spider. Ironically, the crew remained oblivious, assuming it was part of her intense acting performance.
Recounting the incident on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Sweeney shared, “We’re filming, and the thing starts biting me… But we were in the middle of a scene, and I’m supposed to be screaming, but then my screaming got a little serious.”
A video clip of the moment was then aired, capturing Sweeney, out of character, hysterically screaming, “Oh my god! It’s biting me! No, it’s actually biting me!” Powell, 35, seemed to grasp the seriousness of the situation, expressing concern as he realised that Sweeney’s distress was genuine. Watch below:
