With Yellowstone season three set to drop this coming Monday on Stan, Paramount has blessed us with a gorgeous new clip from the season premiere. It properly tugs on the heart strings, as the sneak peak shows John Dutton (Kevin Costner) comforting his son Tate, who’s been having crazy nightmares following his kidnapping.
From the moment Tate says “I have nightmares” you can see exactly why Costner is revered as an acting god. The mix of worry and concern that crosses his face juxtaposed with his trying to stay collected is a proper masterclass in the subtleties of acting. And we gotta give a huge shoutout to Brecken Merrill who plays young Tate. Him recounting his nightmares with a sense of broken detachment is properly heartbreaking, and you can see that heartbreak absolutely ravaging Costner, from his teary eyes to stumbling voice. The chemistry between the pair is undeniable, and if the new season has more moments like this peppered throughout, it’ll without a doubt be an instant classic.
No doubt the season is gonna be huge, or “colossal” in the words of creator Taylor Sheridan. Cole Hayser, who plays Rip, gave a little teaser as well, stating “Something will happen that the audience will go from zero to 60 pretty quick”. We wonder what, but we won’t have to wait long to find out.
Super keen, you can catch the new the premiere when it drops on Stan on Monday.
