Tech giant Apple just announced the release of their new iPhone 7, which will hit Australian stores on Friday September 16, and it’s no surprise that the reactions have been a mixed bag of emotions.

Despite many improvements to its predecessor the iPhone 6, some customers are less than impressed with the ‘new and improved’ features of the iPhone 7. Still, we’re expecting queues outside the Apple stores all week long to get the iPhone 7 first. Let’s first take a look at the features we’re welcoming in the new smartphone:

Battery Life

There’s nothing more devastating than your iPhone running out of charge in the middle of the day, or worse when trying to Uber it home at 3am, but Apple has answered your prayers. The battery for the new iphone 7 is the same size but has a better battery life, lasting two hours longer than the iPhone 6. The iPhone 7 Plus will sustain one hour longer than last year’s Plus model.

Camera

We’ve all heard android users bragging about the superior camera quality of their phones, but the new iPhone 7 features optical image stabilisation, a 7 megapixel forward facing camera and a 12 megapixel camera, which means better definition for your ever-important selfies and portrait photos. Get your face looking crisper than ever for Tinder and capture the definition of your chiseled summer rig.

Water Resistance

Like its arch rival the Samsung Galaxy S7, the iPhone 7 comes water resistant, meaning it’ll kind of save you a freak out if you accidently spill a cup of raspberry soda over your favourite tech accessory.

Sound Quality

With new stereo speakers, placed on the top and another on the bottom, the iPhone 7 will reach twice the volume of it predecessor the iPhone 6. This is great for an impromptu blasting of tunes on your ride home and annoying all the other passenger son your carriage by listening to ‘Lollipop’ by Lil Wayne on repeat.

Aesthetics

The iPhone 7 will come in the usual colours silver, gold and rose gold (pink), and will also feature in two versions of black, including matte black and a glossy jet black. Cue the #AllBlackEverything hashtags.

Now for a look at the features we’re less than impressed with:

Pricing

Even though the new iPhone 7 comes with some cool new features, but you’ll need to flesh out a hefty load to get your hands on one. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will cost from $1079 and $1269, and will come in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB models. https://twitter.com/xtianxg/status/773698856940740608

Air Pods

The new AirPods definitely look flash, and they’ve removed the hassle of tangled earphone wires, but some gadgets fiends are less than thrilled. You’ll need to flesh out $229 for the new smartphone accessory, and there’s no mention of improved sound quality over the old standard headphones. Apple has also scratched the headphone jack from the iPhone 7, which means you won’t have a choice but to buy AirPods if you want to listen to tunes. Not to mention the tiny detached earphones are just beckoning to be lost in your everyday hustles.
